Victoria Aukland (they/them) was born with a mind of their own, on a foggy Christmas Eve morning in Lodi, CA, 1998. Dance activism is what lights the flame of their passion. A queer non-binary femme movement artist, they combines their two worlds of dance and social work in innovative and exhilarating ways. As a fighter who is determined to bring all that they can to the plate, they began studying dance relatively late at the Olympia Dance Center in Olympia, WA, and has continued to hone their craft throughout their undergraduate career at the University of Washington (UW). Graduated with a B.A. a double major in dance and sociology, Victoria has choreographed within the UW’s Dance Department and other spheres of dance for many years. Their movement comes from self-liberation through the many forms they have studied: Contemporary, Street, Heels, Vertical Dance, and more. Via outreach and choreography, they hope to uplift and honour all communities through various forms of art, and give all bodies bravery, space, and love. Victoria’s work is emotionally raw and vulnerable; their choreographic strategies focus on centering dancers' truth through movement that allows for a deeper connection between the audience and the performers of their work. They also honour the stolen Duwamish and Coast Salish land they resides on and the original caretakers of this land.
